Deputy Foreign Minister of Russia Andrei Rudenko told the ‘Novoye Vremya’ newspaper that over the years, the Russian-Armenian cooperation has truly become allied and is distinguished with its high intensively of political dialogue.
“Due to the active mediation efforts of the Russian Federation and the direct participation of President Vladimir Putin it became possible to end the 44-day war between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Today Russian peacekeepers are the guarantor of security and stability in the region. Russia has provided about $15 million humanitarian assistance to help those affected by the war,” Rudenko said.
He added that Russia is always ready to stand by the Armenian people. “Russia is still considered one of the largest foreign investors in Armenia. According to the Armenian side, Russia’s gross investments in the third quarter of 2020 exceeded $2.1 billion. Russia is one of Armenia’s leading trading partners. Political dialogue is also developing intensively,” the Deputy Foreign Minister said.
He called the cooperation in the CIS, EEU, CSTO platforms an inseparable part of bilateral cooperation. “We are working with our Armenian and other partners to create common markets and a favorable environment for the population.”
Speaking about cooperation in the context of combating the spread of coronavirus, Rudenko noted that in 2020-2021 Russia provided Armenia with 50,000 diagnostic test systems, non-contact thermometers, as well as more than 2,000 doses of vaccine.
“Agreements have also been reached on the supply of tens of thousands of doses of the Russian Sputnik V vaccine,” Deputy Foreign Minister added.
