Arsen Torosyan, Chief of Staff to Armenia’s Prime Minister, who participated in the ‘Defying Universal Fear: One Year On’ webinar dedicated to the new challenges of COVID-19, said that the biggest fear and challenge for Armenia is the level of uncertainties on the virus itself, the response of human bodies. However, this is an opportunity, too, because people learn a lot because of these uncertainties. Torosyan praised the development of the vaccine in a short period. He said that he does not think people can return to a normal life in the near future, but everything should be done for it. According to Torosyan, vaccinations are a priority for Armenia, and the Government will do everything possible to vaccinate as many people as possible in Armenia.
Armenian Minister of Health Anahit Avanesyan, who also participated in the webinar, said on the one hand, there is a lot of cooperation between different countries in the development of the vaccine; on the other hand, there is also isolation of different countries in this issue. Avanesyan expressed hope that Armenia will be better prepared for the fourth wave of coronavirus by vaccinating as many people as possible. Health Minister said, the Government considers vaccination one of the main ways to overcome the pandemic, which will allow people to return to normal life. She emphasized the need to counteract the propaganda against vaccination, stating that extensive work is planned to achieve it. Avanesyan also said that the process of receiving the vaccine is not as fast as planned, as the Armenian Government hoped to receive the first batch in February.
