Turkish Ambassador to Tbilisi Fatma Ceren Yazgan stated that she was astonished and concerned about “anti-Turkish, Turkophobic and, in some cases, Islamophobic propaganda”, Infoteka24 reports.
“It is a matter of serious concern, as I respect Georgian culture. The Orthodox faith is an integral part of the Georgian identity, but when a cross is placed on a construction site and it is claimed that they do not want a Turkish company in Georgia, I have doubts this is not the Georgia I know”, she said.
The Georgian community protested against the construction of the Namakhvari HPP in Rioni Valley. The reason were the environmental threats in the region. A protest was held at the construction site, which angered Turkey severely.
