Artur Tovmasyan, Speaker of the Nagorno-Karabakh National Assemblyvisited the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he met with Minister David Babayan.
The two discussed issues related to the country’s foreign policy priorities. Tovmasyan referred to the meeting with the Armenia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Ara Aivazian, during which the main theses voiced, according to the Speaker of the parliament, are in line with the new realities.
“Today, the security of Artsakh is the number one issue. The recent, so-called, activity of Azerbaijanis cannot remain un-responded. We are talking about the cases of stoning the Armenian cars”, Tovmasyan said.
They stressed the need to raise these and other issues on the agenda in international forums.
“Development of relations with Russia should be one of the priorities of our foreign policy,” said the Speaker of the National Assembly, emphasizing the need to create a cooperation framework with Russia.
Davit Babayan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Artsakh highlighted the parliamentary diplomacy as a possible important link supporting the official diplomacy.
“Internal resources must be used to be strong on the external front”, he said.
Davit Babayan highlighting such meetings, from that point of view, emphasized the need to make them regular.
