Reuters- Protesters continued to take to the streets in Launglon, a township close to the city of Dawei in Myanmar's south on Tuesday (March 30), as the number of pro-democracy protesters who have died at the hands of security forces since a February coup rose to more than 500 people.
Video by local news outlet Dawei Watch show hundreds of protesters with placards that read "We Want Democracy" emblazoned with the face of ousted leader Aung San Suu Kyi, who has been in detention since the military junta took over.
Thousands of protesters have also reportedly taken to the streets in several other towns across the country, according to local media.
At least 510 civilians have been killed in nearly two months of opposition to the ouster of a government led by the National League for Democracy by a military junta, according to the Assistance Association for Political Prisoners.
