The President of Azerbaijan states that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict has been resolved; however, his actions prove the opposite, stated Armenia’s Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian at the special session of the NA Standing Committee on Foreign Relations.
“The President of Azerbaijan makes such statements because he has far-reaching goals. However, the reality is not so - the war is over, the conflict is not. Not only have we said that, but also the Minsk Group co-chairs and the international community.
In order to create a truly atmosphere of peace and stability in our region, the most important element of the conflict, the status of Nagorno-Karabakh, must be fixed, which must be anchored in the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination.
Achieving this is a difficult process; the atmosphere of trust must be restored in order to do that. However, it does not happen overnight, especially after such a shock. The issue of returned of our captives must be resolved immediately, which will be a positive step by the neighboring country. The international pressure is growing day by day, and hostage-taking has become problematic for Azerbaijan,” Aivazian said.
The Foreign Minister informed that on April 1 he would leave for Moscow to take part in the session of the CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) Council of Foreign Ministers. Aivazian said, no bilateral contacts are planned with the Azerbaijani Foreign Minister in Moscow. Meanwhile regular contacts are held with the Minsk Group Co-Chairs at the level of the whole staff and the ambassadors of the co-chairing countries.
