Yesterday, at around 1:30 pm, an incident took place between Armenians and Azerbaijanis on the Sarushen-Karmir village road in the Askeran region, Artsakh police report.
“Azerbaijani servicemen threw stones at Armenian cars traveling on the same road from the Azerbaijani convoy accompanied by Russian peacekeepers, as a result the windshield of a VAZ 21-07 driven by Lentrush Babayan was damaged.
After the incident, Babayan and another driver on the same road, blocked the interregional highway, stopped the column, and demanded an explanation from Russian peacekeepers, as well as from the responsible Azerbaijani officer.
According to Babayan, the Azerbaijani officer who did not speak Russian fluently took a photo of the car, promised to report it to his superior, and the Russian peacekeepers apologized for the incident, noting that the damage would be compensated.
To find out all the details of the incident, the victim was questioned at the Askeran Regional Police Department. Minister of Internal Affairs of Arstakh Karen Sargsyan has already handed over the photos of the car, as well as the explanation in Russian translation to General Muradov.
The peacekeeping unit is already dealing with this issue.
According to the Russian side, the problem is not only to compensate the damage, but also to exclude such cases for the future,” the police statement reads.
