101 years ago, these days, the Azerbaijani authorities, in cooperation with the Turkish regular army and the armed bandits, organized the massacre of the Armenian population of Shushi, almost completely destroying the historical capital of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh). Tatevik Hayrapetyan, a MP of “My Step” faction, said during the announcements at the Armenian Parliament.
“It was the first expression of invasive and genocidal policy against Artsakh. Thousands of Armenians were killed because of the monstrous crime, dozens of thousands were forced to leave their city, the cultural heritage was destroyed, people’s property was looted, Armenian shrines were defiled, and Shushi was left without Armenians.
Unfortunately, the handwriting of the opponent remains the same even 101 years later. In November 2020, Azerbaijan, with the participation of Turkey, launched another aggression against Artsakh. It was possible to save Artsakh from genocide only thanks to our heroes’ self-sacrifice.
Hadrut and Shuhi are under Azerbaijani occupation. The population of these towns was displaced, and acts of vandalism against the Armenian cultural heritage prove once again that the joint Azerbaijani-Turkish actions are aimed at falsifying the history of the region and eliminating the Armenian trace.
The policy of extermination of Armenian settlements and the delay in the return of Armenian POWs are not aimed at building peaceful stability. No matter how much the Armenian side strives for peace, peace cannot be one-sided,” said Hayrapetyan.
