UN Secretary General's Spokesman Stéphane Dujarric spoke to
reporters about the snap elections in Armenia.
Answering the question whether the snap elections scheduled for June 20 will help defuse the situation in the country, whether the UN is going to send an observation mission during the elections, Dujarric said.
“I do not know whether we received such a request or not. We do not send observers, but, of course, we support member states if the authorities ask us to do so. I have no comment on the political decision to hold elections. We are always in favor of elections where people can express themselves freely about their future," he said.
Dujarric added that if such a request is received from any UN member state, it will definitely be considered.
