Reuters- Iranian Foreign Minister Javad Zarif held talks with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu in Istanbul on Friday (March 19).
Bilateral relations as well as regional developments were high on the agenda according to a statement by Turkish Foreign Ministry.
Turkey's ties with Iran has expanded over the past few years as Ankara's relations with the United States, Israel and Saudi Arabia - Tehran's main international opponents - all frayed.
Secular but overwhelmingly Sunni Muslim Turkey shares a border with mainly Shi'ite Muslim Iran. They are the two biggest non-Arab powers in the Middle East region.
