Azerbaijan's use of force in the context of the conflict was a gross violation of OSCE commitments, including the Helsinki Final Act, Ara Aivazian, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Armenia stated at the press conference with the OSCE Chairperson-in-Office and Swedish Foreign Minister Anne Linde. Throughout the war, the Azerbaijani armed forces, with the active support of Turkey, committed mass atrocities. It included ethnic cleansing and war crimes against the Armenians of Artsakh, with blatant violations of international humanitarian law, deliberately targeting civilians, including women, children, the elderly, as well as civilian infrastructure and cultural heritage objects.
“Moreover, even four months after the end of the hostilities, Azerbaijan continues to violate international humanitarian law and human rights by holding Armenian prisoners of war and civilians.
With the trilateral statement signed to stop the Turkish-Azerbaijani aggression, the conflict entered a new phase with the deployment of Russian peacekeepers in Artsakh. We consider the trilateral statement as a document aimed at restoring the ceasefire and reaffirming security. Although it contains some provisions related to the peaceful settlement, it does not address its key elements, the status of Artsakh is the most important issue. It should be based on the right of the Artsakh Armenians to self-determination.
The final political solution of the conflict is possible only within the frameworks of the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs”, the Minister said.
