During a weekly briefing, Maria Zakharova, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman referred to a recent statement by Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev on the establishment of a “Zangezur transport corridor”.
“We praise the constructive attitude by both Baku and Yerevan within the frameworks of the trilateral working group chaired by the Deputy Prime Ministers of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia. Its main task is to implement the agreements reached on the unblocking of economic and transport ties at the highest level.
We expect that the same focus on the search for mutually acceptable contact points will prevail both in the official comments and in the media of Azerbaijan and Armenia”, Zakharova pointed.
On the observation that Aliyev, particularly, said that Azerbaijan, Turkey and Iran have a common position on the implementation of transport projects in the region, Zakharova added: “It would be strange if I commented on the statement of the President of Azerbaijan. We have certain relations with that country, including in the economic sphere”.
