The proposal for early parliamentary elections is in force, “Bright Armenia” party has expressed its position. All that remains is to listen to the viewpoint of “Prosperous Armenia”, and the issue will be solved, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said in response to the question of the “Lurer” reporter during the march.
He said that the elections would be held this year in case of an agreement.
Pashinyan is convinced that the guarantee of free and transparent elections are the people and the Government.
Referring to the announcement of the non-parliamentary opposition that it is possible to hold elections only in case of his resignation, the Prime Minister said: “The constitution states that a prime minister must not be re-elected twice in order to hold snap elections. If I resign, I remain as an acting Prime Minister. If a prime minister is elected during that time, there will be no elections”.
Commenting on the change in the country's governance model, Pashinyan noted that he spoke about it, as the acting Constitution has caused many problems.
“The transition to a semi-presidential system of government is just one of the offered options. I will not initiate it myself so that there is no speculation that “whoever comes, offers a suitable model”. There is such a discourse and it must be discussed. It's on agenda and needs to be considered,” the Prime Minister emphasized.
