Tensions arisen in Turkish-Iranian relations. Derya Örs, Turkish Ambassador to Tehran was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to convey Iran's protest note. It came after Turkey’s Interior Minister Süleyman Soylu announced that a “group of the Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) members (which is considered a terrorist organization in Turkey) is in Iran”, ermenihaber reports.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran considered Soylu's statement unacceptable and condemned it.
Earlier, Iranian Ambassador Mohammad Farazmand was called in to the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs after Iran’s ambassador to Iraq made comments about the attacks of the Turkish army in the Northern Iraq. The Ministry said: “Ambassador of Iran would be the last person to lecture Turkey about respecting borders of Iraq”.
