Today, Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Aivaziyan had a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov. The interlocutors stressed the need to ensure regional security and stability.
The situation in Armenia was discussed by the Armenian Defense Minister Vagharshak Harutyunyan and Russian Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu. The conversation took place on the initiative of the Russian side. The heads of the defense ministries of the two strategic allies also touched upon the mission of the Russian peacekeeping contingent in Nagorno Karabakh and a number of other issues of mutual interest.
The US Embassy is also closely following the current developments in Armenia, urging all parties to show restraint and ease tensions peacefully, without violence.

Maintaining a democratic constitutional order is the only way for Armenia to overcome the challenges it has faced", Stano said.
"I call on the Armenian people to stand up for democracy". Garo Paylan, an Armenian MP from Turkey's pro-Kurdish People's Democratic Party, stated this, condemning the coup attempt in Armenia.
