The RA President Armen Sargsyan received Commander of the Russian peacekeeping contingent stationed in Nagorno Karabakh, Lieutenant General Rustam Muradov. The military attaché of the Russian Embassy in Armenia, Colonel Andrey Grischuk and the Special Representative of the Artsakh President Boris Avagyan also took part in the meeting.
General Muradov briefed the Armenian President on the implementation of the tasks set before the peacekeepers, emphasizing the warm attitude of the people of Nagorno Karabakh towards the Russian servicemen.
The interlocutors discussed issues related to the return of the Armenian prisoners of war and detained civilians, the search for missing persons and extradition to the Armenian side. Armen Sargsyan considered inadmissible any obstacle to the search operations by the Azerbaijani side and considered urgent the solution of these extremely sensitive and vital issues.
During the discussion, reference was also made to the demarcation processes of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border. The President Armen Sargsyan stressed the importance of ensuring the protection of Armenia's borders and especially the security of border communities.
