Reuters. Spectacular explosions lit up the early morning sky on Thursday (February 18) as Europe's most active volcano, Mount Etna, lept into action.
The volcano has had spurts of activity for the last few weeks, with ash precipitation shutting down the nearby Catania airport on Tuesday.
The camera team filming the images had to move constantly to avoid falling debris from the volcano and stay away from choking smoke.
The 3,330 meter high volcano on Sicily, can burst into action several times a year.
The last major eruption was in 1992.
