The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova touched upon the Nagorno Karabakh issue during her weekly briefing.
The journalist of the RA Public TV asked the following question to Zakharova.
"The trilateral statement signed in Moscow presupposes the opening of transport communications, but the Armenians are unable to move from Martakert to Vardenis, and the villagers have appealed to the peacekeepers for assistance. What is your position on this issue?”
The official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry answered.
"If the above-mentioned routes are under the control of Russian peacekeepers, the issue should probably have been asked to the Russian Defense Ministry. Let me remind you that according to the sixth point of the trilateral statement, the connection between Artsakh and Armenia is ensured through the Lachin corridor".
The second question referred to the Armenian prisoners of war: at what stage is the issue of return?
"As for the return of Armenian prisoners of war, we are working with both Armenian and Azerbaijani partners. Recently, another exchange of prisoners of war took place through the mediation of the command of the Russian peacekeeping mission. In general, we assume that the best solution to this problem is the "All for All" exchange formula. This was announced by the Russian President and the Russian Foreign Minister", Zakharova answered.
