“Development of postgraduate educational programs in the field of information technologies in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan” project’s launch (CeoTAK) has been announced within the framework of the “Erasmus +” program implemented with the support of the European Union.
Arthur Martirosyan, Deputy Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports welcomed the participants of the program on behalf of the Ministry. Martirosyan noted that he highly appreciates the development of a postgraduate program in the field of IT, in this context emphasizing the project aimed at strengthening research, innovation and industry ties.
Martirosyan, as the program coordinator, thanked the Polytechnic University of Valencia, remarking that the program includes three universities from Armenia: Yerevan State University, National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia and Armenian National Agrarian University.
“The project is promising as a new geographical IT research platform will be created, contributing to the implementation of a joint postgraduate educational program. It will be a significant achievement. Armenian universities are now at a stage of changing the relationship between teaching and learning with industry.
Therefore, it is necessary to create cross-sectoral programs that connect different universities and create synergies. We expect the program to have a direct impact on students in terms of providing access to labor market, as well as it will contribute to the acquisition of researchers’ new capabilities and the strengthening of laboratories,” said Arthur Martirosyan.
“CeoTAK” project tends to improve postgraduate education in the field of geographic information technology, the usage of industrial doctoral education model, research capacity reinforcement and connections development. The 36-month educational project for 2021-24 will be coordinated by the Polytechnic University of Valencia.
National University of Architecture and Construction of Armenia acts as an Armenian coordinator. Within the framework of the project, the research laboratories will be reviewed and improved, and specialists working in the field will be trained on relevant topics.
The project includes 14 organizations from Spain, Sweden, Slovenia, Belgium, Armenia and Kyrgyzstan.
The main goal of the program is to develop new postgraduate higher education programs in Armenia and Kyrgyzstan, aimed at developing the links between research and innovation and reinforcing the cooperation with government agencies.
The implementation of joint innovative projects and the development of strategies aimed at strengthening the university connection with industry, etc. are on target.
