The ruling faction intends to change the Law on Mass Media by banning the media from disseminating materials from anonymous sources.
The project, which has been in circulation since February 1, has already been criticized. According to representatives of a number of media outlets and non-governmental organizations, it is unconstitutional and the purpose is to interfere in the activities of the media.
At the suggestion of the initiators, the media will be banned from referring to any Internet channel, the owner of which is hidden from the reader.
According to Arthur Hovhannisyan, one of the authors of the initiative, the need for this change became more obvious after the 44-day war, when false news was spread on various unknown channels. Hovannisian, however, stresses that they will wait for proposals from all interested parties within a month.
