On February 1, the RA Ombudsman Arman Tatoyan met with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Armenia Sergey Kopirkin. A number of issues were discussed, including the urgency of the return of Armenian captives held in Azerbaijan.
The Defender highlighted the effective cooperation with the Russian Embassy in Armenia, thanked for the joint work of operative exchange of information on the protection of the rights of our compatriots in Russia.
Tatoyan praised the relationship of mutual trust with the Federal Commissioner for Human Rights in Russia Tatiana Moskalkova, presenting the results of joint work with his Russian counterpart during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, as well as the joint work of Armenians in Russia, including Armenian citizens. The reception was held, which was attended by the RA Ambassador to Russia and the President of the Union of Armenians of Russia.
This initiative was aimed at protecting the rights of our compatriots working in Russia. This example of joint work has become an international best practice to be celebrated on international platforms.
The Russian Ambassador highlighted the effective cooperation with the Human Rights Defender of Armenia and stressed the need to continue it. The parties agreed to continue cooperation and exchange of information on human rights.
