According to the US State Department, today Secretary of State Antony Blinken spoke with the Swedish Foreign Minister, OSCE Chairman-in-Office Anne Linde. This was reported by the press service of the US State Department.
Issues related to Russia's role in Ukraine, the settlement of the post-election crisis in Belarus, as well as the efforts of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs to achieve a lasting and stable political settlement between Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed.
Secretary Blinken expressed US support for Sweden's chairmanship in the OSCE and its focus on making progress in protracted conflicts in the OSCE region, strengthening climate security, and upholding democratic principles.
On the eve of the Foreign Minister Linde's visit to Moscow, Secretary of State Blinken expressed concern over the dispersal of unauthorized rallies in Russia and the arrest of opposition leader Alexei Navalny. He thanked Foreign Minister Linde for Sweden's commitment to upholding the OSCE principles.
