Today is the 100th anniversary of the great Armenian composer, pianist, People's Artist of the USSR Arno Babajanyan.
Babajanyan was born in Yerevan on January 22, 1921. He wrote his first musical composition at the age of 9. Aram Khachatryan, noticing five-year-old Babajanyan's talent, predicts that he should be involved in music.
In 1929 Babajanyan entered the music school attached to the Yerevan State Conservatory, after which he studied at the conservatory. In 1938 he left for Moscow and entered the last year of the Gnessin Music College. In 1948 he continued his studies at the piano department of the Moscow Conservatory, at the same time improving his skills in the studio attached to the Armenian House of Culture in Moscow.
In 1950-1956 he taught at the Yerevan Conservatory. He has lived and worked in Moscow since 1956. The unique talent of the composer was also reflected in his songs with deep sensitivity. Babajanyan's "The Best City on Earth", "Bridges", "Guess My Wish", "Do Not Hurry" and other songs are famous. Arno Babajanyan died in Moscow on November 11, 1983.
