On January 21, the RA Foreign Minister Ara Aivazian had a phone conversation with the French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
The interlocutors touched upon in detail the post-war situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, regional security and peace issues.
The Minister Aivazian drew the attention of his French counterpart to the need to fully address the urgent humanitarian issues that need to be addressed, in particular the repatriation of prisoners of war and hostages.
Among the key topics of the Ministers' conversation were the steps taken to preserve the historical, cultural and religious heritage of Artsakh in the territories under the control of Azerbaijan, and the role of specialized international structures in that process. Minister Aivazian stressed that the urgency of the issue is further emphasized in the light of Azerbaijan's efforts to destroy the Armenian heritage and distort its identity.
During the phone conversation, reference was made to the resumption of the peace process within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs and the forthcoming schedule of the Co-Chairs in this regard.
