Russia has always welcomed the meetings of Armenian and Azerbaijani intellectuals. It also welcomed the humanitarian meetings between the representatives of those countries. This was stated by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova during the first briefing in 2021.
"In our opinion, such meetings contribute to mutual understanding and confidence building between the parties and serve only the interests of the Armenian and Azerbaijani peoples, as well as the region in general. And this means that it also coincides with Russia's interests", Zakharova said.
She assured that Moscow will contribute to the implementation of such initiatives if Yerevan and Baku show a sincere willingness to implement them.
