During today's meeting with the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the situation conditioned by the change in the border environment of Syunik region and the measures taken to ensure security were discussed.
Opening the consultation, Pashinyan noted. "Dear colleagues, our consultation today is dedicated to the problems of Syunik region, and today we must discuss a wide range of issues. Due to the well-known events, the border environment of Syunik has undergone significant changes, and today we must discuss the measures taken to ensure the security of the Republic of Armenia in the Syunik sector. We need to discuss the work done so far and how we should continue that work and in what direction. Of course, socio-economic and communication issues are very important, environmental issues are also important, and we have a wide range of issues to discuss.
I have repeatedly said that I consider Syunik the backbone of our statehood, and we must take all measures to ensure the security of the Republic of Armenia in Syunik. Not only in Syunik, but in the whole territory of the republic, but Syunik has a special significance in this respect. We also need to discuss what social and economic programs we will implement in the communities that have got new border status, in fact, have found themselves in the status of border settlements. And today we will make decisions and agree on the process of their further implementation".
The Prime Minister was informed about the process of ensuring the security of Syunik border communities and roads, the location of border checkpoints, the process of compensation for possible property damage of citizens and other related issues.
The current results were recorded, possible solutions to the existing problems and further actions were discussed in the areas of road, communication infrastructure improvement, solution of socio-economic problems and others.
