The Russian President Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with the French President Emmanuel Macron. The sides discussed some issues related to the trilateral meeting of the leaders of Russia, Azerbaijan and Armenia to be held in Moscow on January 11, kremlin.ru reports.
Taking into account the need for consistent implementation of the joint statement signed on November 9, 2020 and stabilization of the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh conflict zone, the Presidents noted that during the January 11 trilateral meeting, first of all, further steps towards peace in the region will be discussed.
The French President welcomed Russia's efforts in the context of the settlement of the Karabakh conflict.
The parties also stressed the importance of providing urgent humanitarian assistance to the war-affected population, including through the involvement of international organizations.
