The Minister of Health of the Republic of Armenia Arsen Torosyan made a post on Facebook, referring to the quarantine regime in the Republic of Armenia which is in effect since September 11, 2020.
"Dear compatriots, dear businessmen, first of all I would like to remind you that the "quarantine regime" has been in force in our country since September 11, 2020, which followed the "state of emergency" that existed before that. It is thanks to this legal regime that it has been possible to apply many anti-pandemic rules to date, which ensure a relatively manageable state of the pandemic in the country.
Referring to the calls "not to extend the quarantine regime", in the context that this legal regime is the cause of many economic difficulties, I want to ask a question to those who make such claims.
-- Is quarantine the cause of economic difficulties? Maybe the coronavirus epidemic is the cause of them, for the fight against which a "legal quarantine regime" has been established?
The answer, with very few exceptions, is the following.
- The cause of the economic difficulties is the epidemic, which has led to many obstacles in the field of transnational freight and passenger transportation, tourism, restrictions on various raw materials in many countries, production restrictions in other countries, and so on. And it is the anti-epidemic measures that are in place around the world that, in the fight against the epidemic, will lead to the activation of economies and not the other way.
Therefore, I urge you not to distort the agendas and to work on the fight against the real causes. Voluntary or involuntary modification of cause-effect relationships is simply inadmissible. The legal quarantine regime is not the cause of economic difficulties. it is a tool to fight the cause.
As for some exceptions, the government has been making weakening since the spring of 2020, and now, when the "legal quarantine regime" is extended, there will be weakening again, about which we will inform you in the coming days", Torosyan wrote.
