Siberian meteorologists have recorded the lowest frosts in 50-100 years in over the weekend as the thermometer dropped to - 49 degrees Celsius.
The lowest temperatures were recorded in the Tomsk region, - 37–41 degrees Celsius were recorded in Novosibirsk. Temperature records were also broken in Kemerovo and Barnaul, where the indicator exceeded - 40 degrees. A high alert mode has been introduced in several regions of Siberia due to the increased number of frostbites.
According to the data from weather forecasters, frosts in Western and Central Siberia will last until the end of the year.
