During a meeting with people in Sisian, the Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan first called for a minute of silence, to honor the memory of the heroes who sacrificed their lives for Homeland, and then urged the people not to clap and chant, given that three days of mourning have been declared in the country.
"Today there is a lot of talk that what is happening on the borders of Syunik is a process of handing over Syunik, a process of endangering the security of Syunik. In fact, it is quite the opposite. When we deploy our border troops in accordance with the Armenian border, our level of security increases, because the border of the Republic of Armenia also becomes the border of the security system of which we are a member," Pashinyan said.
To the question why the CSTO did not intervene during the war, Pashinyan answered.
"Because it was written in our law that this is our border. Beyond the Tegh village is the Republic of Azerbaijan. The law was adopted by the parliament in 2010, and the bill was submitted by the government in 2010. The CSTO is telling us: this is your border, you have described your border, how can we intervene outside your borders?".
