Today during a press conference, the Russian President Vladimir Putin answered a TASS reporter's question on the latest developments in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
"Why did the conflict start now? The situation is out of control. That tension has lasted for many years. I do not think it happened with external intervention. There were repeated shootings and small clashes, which eventually turned into a conflict. Russia's position has always been that we must reach a settlement without bloodshed.
That was our position in the Minsk Group, co-chaired by Russia, the United States and France. We have been committed to one position for many years, according to which the 7 regions around Nagorno Karabakh should be returned to Azerbaijan, the status of Nagorno Karabakh should remain unchanged, the status quo should be fixed there, but there should be an opportunity for communication between Nagorno Karabakh and Between Armenia, for which the Lachin corridor is used. It is a connection between Armenia and Artsakh. Why the Lachin corridor, because the road passes through the Lachin region", the Russian president replied.
