The board of the Lazarian Club has issued a statement on the December 10 parade in Baku and the disrespectful attitude towards Armenia and Russia. In particular, the statement says that the "dances on bones" organized by Baku, calling it a "victory parade", is another provocation by Azerbaijan and Turkey and an attempt to humiliate Armenia and the Armenian people.
"But not only that. Russia and Armenia are allies. The board of the international Lazarian Club uniting the representatives of the civil societies of Russia and Armenia, is convinced that with such an aggressive step the organizers of the parade insulted not only Armenia but also Russia. In this context, the words of the President of Azerbaijan about the Great Victory against Fascism in 1945 sound especially inhuman. We think such historical parallels are false, insulting and criminal.
Yesterday's parade in Baku is nothing more than a legitimization of Turkey's neo-Ottoman aspirations and an attempt to retell the history of the region", the statement said.
The board of the Lazarian Club also notes that during the event, Turkish President Erdogan openly admired Enver Pasha - one of the main organizers of the Armenian Genocide. "Only the Armenian people can control their own destiny. Armenia must draw lessons from the hard lessons of the Nagorno-Karabakh war, unite to overcome the bitterness of losses and disappointments. The Lazarian Club is convinced that only the Armenian people have the right to decide their own destiny", the statement reads in part.
