I call what is happening an attempt of elite coup, said the NA Deputy Speaker Alen Simonyan, referring to the demand of opposition parties the Prime Minister to resign.
"The processes that are taking place are deliberately bypassing the people of Armenia, who are the ones who form the government. A group of politicians have decided that they should decide on the person of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia and appoint that person as the leader of the Republic of Armenia for a year, and they do not talk, for example, about the elections.
That is, they take the right to vote from the citizens of the Republic of Armenia. This is not surprising, considering who organized the coup attempt of the elites", Simonyan told reporters.
He insisted that the issue of power should be decided by the people of Armenia, at the same time not ruling out that at some point snap elections may be held in the country.
"I do not rule out such a solution when we understand that all the processes are over, and most importantly, the issue of prisoners of war is resolved, when"People's passions will turn into cold judgment", Simonyan said, adding that he is convinced that if snap elections are held, the ruling party will again have a majority.
According to him, the people should decide, not the parties, only one of which managed to pass the National Assembly in the last parliamentary elections.
