The Foreign Ministers of Armenia and Russia Ara Ayvazian and Sergey Lavrov have also discussed the issue of involvement of international organizations in the post-conflict reconstruction of the region. Sergey Lavrov stated this at a briefing after the joint meeting of the Ministers.
In his speech, he referred to the activities of the International Committee of the Red Cross, noting that the organization has an office in Yerevan, Baku and Stepanakert.
"Their presence will increase, as ICRC President told us during a recent visit to Moscow. UN agencies such as the Office of the Commissioner for Refugees, the World Food Program, the United Nations Children's Fund and UNESCO have expressed interest.
UNESCO is particularly interested in the preservation of cultural heritage, which is in Armenia's interests, and Russia fully supports this initiative. We are also interested in the restoration of economic, healthcare and other spheres, the lifting of the blockade, to promote the normalization of good-neighborly relations between Armenians and Azeris both in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh and at the interstate level. It would create an atmosphere of mutual trust in the region for the benefit of all the peoples living here and all the countries here.
We also stressed the role that the Minsk Group. Co-chairs - Russia, France and the United States, should play role in strengthening the tendencies I have mentioned.
We also talked in detail about the bilateral agenda. We have a very intense political dialogue, including at the high and highest levels. Despite the epidemic restrictions, the cooperation between the ministries and departments continues", said the Russian Foreign Minister in part.
