The announcement of November 9 is a cornerstone in terms of ceasefire and bloodshed. The Armenian Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazian stated this today, December 7, at a joint briefing with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
"There are certain parameters related to the return of refugees and other issues, which, in their turn, outline the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
Naturally, the priority issues will remain for comprehensive negotiations, which will begin when the situation in the region stabilizes. I share Sergey Lavrov's opinion that there is cautious optimism in this matter.
I think all parties should do everything possible to prevent the recurrence of the tragedy that took place in the past two months. We also attach importance to the statement adopted by the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs at the OSCE Ministerial Council last week, which testifies to the international support for this format for the further settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
We expect the Co-Chairs to visit the region in the near future, and consultations will begin between the Co-Chairs and the Foreign Ministries. Based on that, I think it will be possible to prepare the ground for the start of a new negotiation process in the future", said Ara Ayvazian.
