The choice of Moscow as the place of the first visit completely coincides with the spirit of Armenian-Russian allied, deep-rooted fraternal relations and fraternal ties between our countries. Thank you for the invitation to visit Russia. The RA Foreign Minister Ara Ayvazian stated this at a meeting with the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov in Moscow.
"All this is reflected in the interpersonal and interstate relations. This has been the case throughout history, during victories and not only during them. As you mentioned a while ago, it was the same during the days of the Spitak earthquake, the 32nd anniversary of which is today", Ayvazian said.
The RA Foreign Minister said that the large-scale war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Artsakh with the open military-political support of Turkey and the direct involvement of terrorists hired from the Middle East was a new shock.
"I would like to take this opportunity to thank once again the Russian side and you personally, Sergey Viktorovich, for your consistent efforts and personal contribution to end the hostilities in the conflict zone", Ayvazian said.
According to him, the current situation, including at the regional level, requires assessments and decisions, which must be implemented through to the unification of the society and the whole Armenian people, through the clear activity of the state structures of Armenia.
"I hope that we will continue the discussions, which started in November during the visit of the interdepartmental delegation to Yerevan", the Armenian minister said.
Ayvazian also noted that they are ready to pay due attention to issues such as peacekeeping activities, creating conditions for the return of refugees, further steps to provide humanitarian assistance to the population, logistical issues, as well as infrastructure rehabilitation and other important issues.
"Obviously, the issues of missing persons, the search for prisoners and the exchange of bodies are very sensitive and need to be addressed immediately. This is especially true in the light of the ever-increasing facts of barbaric treatment of the military. The preservation of Armenian spiritual and cultural monuments is also among such issues", the RA Foreign Minister emphasized.
