Comments by the Foreign Ministry of the Republic of Artsakh regarding the resolution adopted by the French National Assembly
"Welcome the resolution adopted on December 4 by the National Assembly of the French Parliament, which reaffirms the key position expressed in the resolution adopted by the French Senate on November 25 on the need for recognition by the French Government of the Republic of Artsakh.
We believe it is important that this resolution summarizing the position of the French Parliament strongly condemns Azerbaijan's armed aggression against Artsakh, unleashed with the support of Turkey and its recruited mercenaries, as well as crimes committed against civilians based on national hatred.
We also appreciate the efforts of French parliamentarians to provide humanitarian aid to Artsakh in cooperation with French authorities and other European countries, which will be a significant contribution to the effective resolution of the humanitarian crisis arising from the war in our republic.
We hope that the resolutions adopted by both chambers of the French Parliament on recognition of the Artsakh Republic will be a solid political basis for recognition of the Republic of Artsakh as the central authorities of France.
We reiterate that the international recognition of the Republic of Artsakh will guarantee the rights of citizens of Artsakh to free and decent living on their native land, and also contribute to the provision of stronger security, stability and predictability in the South Caucasus region.
The adoption of resolutions on recognition of Artsakh independence will also give additional impetus to the political settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, which should be based on recognition of the realization of the right to self-determination by the people of Artsakh".
