Today the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova referred to the ongoing peacekeeping mission in Nagorno Karabakh.
"Efforts to resolve the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh have continued over the past week. No ceasefire violations were reported. The phone conversations between the Prime Ministers of the Russian Federation and Republic of Armenia, the Foreign Ministers of the two countries took place. Issues related to the activities of Russian peacekeepers, further steps in providing humanitarian assistance to the population and measures aimed at preserving religious and cultural monuments were discussed", Zakharova said.
She noted that Russian peacekeepers continue to monitor the situation around the clock and control the ceasefire, create conditions for the return of refugees, ensure the movement of civilian vehicles, food and other cargo, and carry out demining works.
Referring to the search for the bodies of missing servicemen and victims, Zakharova said that it is a very sensitive issue both in Armenia and Azerbaijan. "It is under the control of the Russian peacekeeping mission. Our peacekeepers carry out the search using modern technical means.
The main humanitarian problems have been resolved in Nagorno Karabakh. In this regard, we are in close contact with the relevant Armenian and Azerbaijani structures. The number of refugees returning to Nagorno Karabakh since November 14 is close to 30,000. Every day 1,000 to 2,000 people are transported", said Maria Zakharova.
