France has been active since the beginning of the unleashed war against Karabakh. The President Emmanuel Macron was the first to call things by their proper names, noting that Turkey was sending Syrian mercenaries to Azerbaijan to fight against Nagorno-Karabakh. The French Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs Jean-Baptiste Lemoyne stated this at a press conference in Yerevan.
"The trilateral statement signed between the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on November 9 contains 9 points, but there are issues that are not included, in particular, the withdrawal of Syrian mercenaries, as well as the possible future status of Nagorno-Karabakh. There are also issues related to ensuring stability and security in Nagorno-Karabakh, so it is necessary that the talks continue with the participation of the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs. Such a wish was expressed by both the Armenian and Azerbaijani authorities", Lemoyne said.
He stated that France is currently waiting for concrete actions from Turkey, that is, for Turkey to withdraw its mercenaries from the region. France will also discuss sanctions against Turkey with its European partners. "We will continue to be consistent in order to achieve results", Lemoyne concluded.
