The situation in Nagorno-Karabakh has begun to stabilize, no ceasefire violations have been reported, and no provocations against Russian peacekeepers have been reported. The Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said this today during a briefing.
According to her, it is possible to implement the provisions of the November 9 trilateral statement without serious incidents. "These positive tendencies are a strong proof that the way chosen by the leaders of Armenia, Russia and Azerbaijan was right, and the provisions of the agreement have started to be implemented in practice", Zakharova said.
Zakharov reminded that on November 23-24, the Russian President had a series of phone conversations with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Issues related to the further activities of the Russian peacekeepers, the humanitarian aid provided to the population, the preservation of spiritual and cultural monuments were discussed.
She also reminded that a detailed exchange of views on Nagorno Karabakh took place between the Presidents of Russia, Turkey and the Foreign Ministers of Russia, Iran.
"I would like to touch upon the preservation of monuments in Nagorno Karabakh separately. We welcome the joint statement of the International Council of Archives, the International Council of Museums and the International Association of Libraries on the situation in Nagorno-Karabakh. These authoritative international organizations have urged all parties to the ceasefire to ensure respect for their spiritual, cultural, historical and religious heritage", Zakharova said.
