The Office of the Representative of the Republic of Armenia to the ECHR has provided all information on all legal steps, including the applications sent by the Republic of Armenia and lawyers to the ECHR, on the measures applied to Azerbaijan, to protect the right to life of prisoners. The information was also sent to the International Committee of the Red Cross and the RA Human Rights Defender to take action within their powers.
"New facts of gross human rights violations by Azerbaijan are constantly presented to the ECHR. In addition, any information on detainees is sent to other government agencies to investigate and take further legal action. Any step or initiative aimed at protecting the rights of the captives and their immediate return is to be welcomed.
However, it should be noted that issues related to the captives have sensitive aspects, especially for their relatives. Any initiative aimed at collecting personal data through social media, publishing data on the number of detainees or disseminating statements referring to unknown sources can not only endanger the lives and health of the detainees, but also cause untold pain and suffering to their relatives", reads the announcement.
