The Russian President Vladimir Putin assessed the situation in Nagorno Karabakh, RIA Novosti reports.
According to Putin, the situation in Nagorno Karabakh is generally stabilizing, Russian peacekeepers ensure the security of the civilian population.
"Russian peacekeepers currently being sent to the region monitor the ceasefire, ensure the safety of civilians, accompany returning refugees and humanitarian aid. The general situation has stabilized", Putin said at a ceremony to present credentials to foreign ambassadors.
The Russian President also spoke about Russia's efforts to resolve the situation in Nagorno Karabakh. "We have made vigorous efforts to end the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh, which have resulted in the deaths of thousands of citizens of our friendly Azerbaijan and Armenia.
At the same time, we followed the key agreements reached by the OSCE Minsk Group. The main achievement is the cessation of bloodshed, which is enshrined in the trilateral statement of the Presidents of Russia and Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia", said the RF President.
