The RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov. Welcoming the Russian Foreign Minister, Prime Minister Pashinyan noted․
"Dear Sergey Viktorovich,
Let me greet you in Yerevan. Today we discussed in an expanded format all the issues that are on our agenda. Of course, the most important issue for us now is the situation in Nagorno Karabakh. We must make decisions on many issues, and the most important thing is the humanitarian side of the issue, we must ensure the return of the people of Artsakh to their homes.
Of course, already now there is a rather good dynamic of the residents of Artsakh returning to their homes. And in fact the Russian peacekeepers are in all the designated places, they already provide security. This is a very important factor that ensures the security of the people of Nagorno Karabakh. But there are also issues that are not resolved, they remain open. In the future, how will we ensure the use of the right of return of the residents of several regions, who will ensure the security of our compatriots, how will it be implemented? These, of course, are issues that are on our agenda. We must discuss and make decisions in this regard".
In his speech, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov noted
"Dear Nikol Vovayevich,
Thank you for the warm welcome. Our delegation arrived in Yerevan within the framework of an agreement between you and the President Vladimir Putin, the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The goal is to make a full reference to all directions of our cooperation, allied, strategic relations. Of course, the issues related to the need to resolve the problems around Nagorno Karabakh are in the foreground.
The November 9 statement provides an opportunity to resolve these issues on the basis of agreements reached in a document signed by the three leaders. First of all, it refers to the return of refugees and the solution of all humanitarian issues of the current situation.
We are committed to that. Thank you for your appreciation of the role played by our peacekeepers, which is important not only in terms of security as a key component of their mandate, but also in terms of ongoing support for returnees and in those need of humanitarian assistance.
In addition to the role of peacekeepers, the interagency center, which is being set up by the President Putin and is already starting its work, will also deal with all these issues. As I have already presented to you, we actively involve the international organizations of the UN system, we encourage them to use their opportunities in a more active way for the people of that region. We also actively support the International Committee of the Red Cross, which works in Karabakh.
During this visit we will also consider the whole complex of our relations, in terms of the profile Deputy Prime Ministers of the Russian Government, the Ministers of Health and Emergency Situations. You have already met with the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation, the General Director of "Russian Railways" is also in Yerevan. I am convinced that as a result of these sectoral talks we will have a positive and comprehensive picture, which will advance our relations and which, what we sincerely want, will support your initiatives aimed at stabilizing the situation in Armenia and resolving the issues related to Nagorno Karabakh".
