The Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated the following during a briefing at the airport on his way from Yerevan today.
"According to the agreement between the Russian President Vladimir Putin and the RA Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, the visit of the Russian interdepartmental delegation to Yerevan covers the whole spectrum of relations between our two countries.
The delegation consists of two Russian Deputy Prime Ministers, Novak and Overchuk, the Russian Minister of Health, the head of "Rospotrebnadzor", the head of the Russian Railways, and a representative of the Ministry of Finance. In parallel, within the framework of this delegation, meetings were held between the leadership of the Republic of Armenia and the Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoigu, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Russian Federation Yevgeny Zinichev.
We have had comprehensive negotiations with all the departments represented here. We mainly focused on the issues related to the implementation of the joint statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno Karabakh and the implementation of peacekeeping operations to assist the civilian population.
Everyone recognized this statement as a with no alternative to resolving the situation, which became more acute a few weeks ago. It was unequivocally stressed that attempts to question this statement not only inside the country but also abroad are unacceptable. We reaffirm our determination to continue this work.
We also met with the RA President. Both the President and the Prime Minister of the Republic of Armenia emphasized that this statement helped to solve serious problems, helped to save lives. They will contribute to the implementation of this agreement from now on. They praised the work of the Russian peacekeepers, the decree of the Russian President on the establishment of an interdepartmental humanitarian response center.
We also talked about current bilateral issues, including the holding of the 20th session of the Interstate Commission on Trade and Economic Cooperation (when the restrictions on the coronavirus are over), the interregional forum of Russia and Armenia, and programs on separate departments", said the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
