"Recent public discussions on the status of the Artsakh Republic, as well as the provocative statements by the Azerbaijani authorities, reaffirm the need for international recognition of Artsakh's independence as the most optimal and effective way out of the situation created by Azerbaijan's armed aggression against our republic, with the support of Turkey and international terrorists under its control". Artsakh Foreign Minister Masis Mailyan wrote about this on Facebook.
"Azerbaijan's sharp refusal to discuss the status of Artsakh at the highest level eliminates any obstacle to the recognition of the independence of the Artsakh Republic by other states: independence, which is the result of our people exercising their inalienable right to self-determination. If in the past the states refrained from recognizing Artsakh's independence due to fears of hindering the peaceful settlement of the Azerbaijani-Karabakh conflict, those fears lost their relevance after Baku's public refusal to discuss the aggression against Artsakh, the occupation of a large part of its territory and the status issue.
The international recognition of the independence of the Artsakh Republic and the acquisition of international legal personality will create important conditions for the restoration of the territorial integrity of the republic by political and diplomatic means. The international community has no right to accept the situation, which is the result of the armed aggression of two totalitarian and genocidal states, as well as an alliance of international terrorists, whose actions do not fit to the legal and moral norms of the civilized world", Mailyan wrote.
