Russian peacekeepers operate in Nagorno-Karabakh clearly and coordinated. This was stated by Vladimir Putin during a meeting on the Russian mission in the region. The Russian president stressed that the Russian armed forces effectively monitor the observance of the ceasefire between the parties, and "the situation in general has stabilized".
"In addition, peacekeepers are accompanying refugees, tidying up residential buildings, roads and social facilities, and ensuring the safety of convoys carrying humanitarian aid", Putin added.
The Russian President called on the peacekeepers to establish normal relations with Armenians and Azeris in order to prevent conflicts over domestic issues. Putin expressed hope that the forthcoming consultations on Karabakh will help in further settlement.
The Russian President also noted that he and his counterparts from Armenia and Azerbaijan had agreed on the issue of sending a russian interdepartmental delegation to Armenia and Azerbaijan to discuss the most urgent issues of the trilateral statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia and Azerbaijan.
