During the briefings in the National Assembly, Arman Yeghoyan, a member of the "My Step" faction, answered the question - why Armenia did not recognize Artsakh's independence or sign a military-political alliance with Artsakh during the war.
"That issue was on the agenda of the National Assembly. There could be two approaches: we recognize what was left, or we wait for the breakthrough, and when we will strong, then recognize. If we had recognized, we would have actually recognized what is left now", the MP said.
According to him, Armenia has in fact recognized Artsakh, as Artsakh is provided with an interstate loan.
"If we have not recognized, how do we provide an interstate loan to Artsakh? No other state can provide an interstate loan. I do not know to what extent the de jure recognition of Artsakh would affect the hostilities or the process of the further recognition of Artsakh. I do not have the answer to that question. It could have both risks and benefits. We must remember the situation on the front - to recognize at the moment of retreat or at the moment of the counterattack? This dilemma was before us", said Yeghoyan.
The NA deputy did not rule out that the issue of recognizing Artsakh may be brought to the parliament at this stage.
