The ceasefire agreement signed this week on Nagorno-Karabakh is not a long-term peaceful settlement. There are many key issues that need to be addressed in order for this conflict to be resolved sustainably. This post was made by US Congressman Frank Pallone on his Twitter microblog.
The congressman called on the United States Secretary of State to immediately resume cooperation with the OSCE to resolve these issues.
"Any future US-backed negotiation settlement must ensure that the people of Artsakh have the opportunity to rebuild their communities and lives without fear of further bloodshed. "The conditions in the current ceasefire are unacceptable for the long-term security of Artsakh", the Congressman wrote.
Frank Pallone also noted that "the international community must finally recognize the right of the people of Artsakh to self-determination and its role as a negotiator. "Without it, they will continue to face further attacks by Azerbaijani and Turkish forces".
