The City Council of Berga, Catalonia, has recognized the independence of the Artsakh Republic, reports the Armenian Cultural Union of Barcelona.
"The plenary session of the city council, at the suggestion of the Armenian Cultural Union of Barcelona, adopted and recognized the independence of the Artsakh Republic, the right of nations to self-determination and territorial sovereignty by a majority of votes," the statement reads.
The city of Berga is located in the Spanish province of Catalonia and has a population of about 17,000.
