During the briefing, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova answered the question about the steps taken by Russia, as a world power, in the elimination of terrorists in Azerbaijan. Zakharova noted that in this case the opinion of experts is needed, but she also added:
"According to the information received, members of international terrorist groups are currently being transferred from the Middle East to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone, with their hands covered in blood.
We are talking about radical mercenaries who follow the ideology of jihadism. All this can not but worry us, as such a development could lead to the creation of a new terrorist enclave, already in the Transcaucasia".
Regarding the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Zakharova noted:
"We call on the parties to show restraint, as well as to refrain from shelling civilian settlements, not to allow the intervention of external forces. It is necessary to achieve a ceasefire in practice, a reduction of tensions, the resumption of negotiations for a peaceful settlement on basic principles".
The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry reminded that on November 1 and 2, Vladimir Putin had an exchange of views with the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan.
